THE MANIFESTO
WHAT HAS TO HOLD
Players can cross enormous distances, enter crowded locations and meet others without the universe losing track of who owns what, where something belongs or what happened there before. The infrastructure can change underneath the experience. The world above it has to remain coherent.
Prices and opportunities emerge from what players extract, produce, move, consume and lose. The economy has to respond to what is actually happening in the universe while remaining stable enough to survive the pressure thousands of players will eventually put on it.
A wreck, a structure, a change of ownership or the outcome of a conflict should still matter after the players involved have gone. The universe needs a durable memory of the events worth keeping, so its history can accumulate instead of beginning again.
Markets, factions, routes and opportunities continue changing whether a particular player is there to see them or not. Stellar Mariner should feel like a place you return to, with things to discover about what happened while you were away.
THE HORIZON
The rules of the universe take shape: persistence, replication, simulation, the economy and the architecture that connects them. Alongside them, Cassian begins to become a place — its worlds, history, factions and the first experiences that will eventually bring players into it. Everything that follows grows from here.
The pieces begin working together. Economies react, factions act, ships and inventories carry persistent state, and the first parts of Cassian begin behaving like one connected universe. This is where isolated systems become a game — and where we start pushing them hard enough to learn what survives.
The first players arrive. They fly the ships, cross the worlds, test the economy and do things we never anticipated. Early test phases may still carry wipes while the universe is being proven, and we will make that clear when they do. This is where Stellar Mariner stops being a world built only by us and starts becoming one shaped by the people inside it.
The universe opens without another planned reset. From that point, what players build, discover, trade, lose and change becomes part of Stellar Mariner’s continuing history. New players enter the same world and inherit what came before them. From here, Cassian’s story belongs as much to the people living in it as it does to us.
THE WORK AHEAD
Stage 01 is where we are now. The foundations are taking shape alongside the universe they are being built to support, and we will keep documenting both as Stellar Mariner moves forward. Follow development to see what changes, what works, what doesn’t, and what comes online next.
