This first development note covers a little more than a normal week while we bring the cadence up to date. Going forward, these notes will stay focused on what materially changed across False Contact, its supporting platform and Rynua.
False Contact — Architecture
Refined the architecture behind one persistent world, separating durable world state from the live simulations used to run it.
Removed regional sharding from the current design. Geographic regions are now treated as infrastructure placement rather than separate versions of the universe.
Defined bounded simulation instances as the initial approach to handling player density.
Removed dynamic server meshing as a launch dependency. It remains an option if future testing demonstrates that individual simulations need to scale beyond a single node.
Expanded the design around relevancy, network culling and interaction density, rather than treating raw player count as the primary measure of simulation load.
Continued defining the boundary between transient simulation state and durable persistent state.
False Contact — Visual Direction
Settled the initial colour palette and design direction for False Contact.
Finalised the current False Contact mark and integrated it across the Rynua and False Contact identities.
Established the visual foundation that will guide the game's web presence and wider identity as development continues.
False Contact — Web Platform
Built the initial Next.js application and deployment architecture for the False Contact web platform.
Established the Git and deployment workflow that will support development and future releases.
Started building the first version of the False Contact website, including its core navigation, page structure and visual system.
Began laying the groundwork for the wider game-facing platform that will eventually sit behind the public website.
Rynua.com
Completed a site-wide editorial and consistency pass across 12 core and policy pages.
Updated public technical language to reflect the current one-world architecture.
Revised the public Commitments to better separate permanent principles from implementation decisions that may evolve.
Reviewed and updated the existing development archive to bring earlier articles in line with the project's current architecture and terminology.
Infrastructure
Added additional monitoring around database and deployment events.
Expanded infrastructure alerting to improve visibility when production services encounter problems.
Reviewed the current production environment and supporting services ahead of the next development phase.
Next
Continue development of the False Contact website and the platform underneath it.
Expand the visual system now that the initial identity and design direction are established.
Continue refining the entity, authority, persistence and replication architecture ahead of implementation in Unreal Engine.
Prepare the technical groundwork for the first Unreal Engine development phase.
